The face of these rugs is woven fiberglass that is fire resistant to over 1200 degrees F.   These rugs resist burn spots from sparks and embers, and can be spot cleaned by rinsing with a water hose.  Heavy skid-resistant backing helps these rugs to lay flat.  Our new larger sizes provide even greater protection for your flooring and carpets.  Note:  If exposed to extreme heat for an extended time (such as allowing burning coals or logs to lay on the rug) heat can transfer through the rug causing possible damage to underlying flooring.  Not for use directly beneath a stove.  Not designed to replace a hearth extender or other protection required by local codes.
